What I Fight For
Hello,
My name is Húrin Thalion, Lord of Dor-lómin. I have a fair complexion that goes well with my golden hair. While I have a shorter stature than most men, I have the muscle to make up for it. I am a warrior. I believe that fear exists, but I also believe that it gets in the way. I learned from a very young age that bravery is the main key to success. If you don’t fully commit to something, it will lower the chances of it ever coming true. My story, while far from over, began with the merging of two great families. My father, Galdor, was the lord of a realm that lies in the region of Hithlum and my mother, Hareth, was the eldest daughter of the chieftain of Haladin. I was raised in the forests of Brethil by my Uncle on my mother’s side, Haldir. With my brother, Huor, I began training to fight. Specifically, to fight Morgoth. I have always known that my purpose would be greater than following in my father’s footsteps. I wanted to be a true Hero, someone who steps in to save others no matter what. My brother and I spent some time as scouts, which was going really well until we were ambushed by Orcs. This is when our fate began to change forever. Huor and I kept running from the Orcs until eventually, we were saved by Ulmo. He used his mist to confuse the Orcs. When the mist cleared, we were spotted by the lord of the great eagles. The Eagles swept us up, and brought us to the secret Elvin city of Gondolin. King Turgon wanted us to spend the rest of our lives in the city so that we would not reveal to anyone the hidden location of Gondolin. But after spending a year there, he finally allowed Huor and I to leave. Little did I know, this knowledge would become my demise. When Morgoth discovered that I knew the location of the secret city, he made it his mission to get this information out of me however he best saw fit. This is where my new Story begins.
My life is full of loss, but at least I had something worth fighting for.
Húrin
